Any luck getting it changed ? I ordered exactly the same as you in person at the main Bellevue sales and service center and was initially assigned a 2018 build. Fortunately, I noticed on the screen when the sales guy was showing me so I asked if he could change to a 2019 build and he did so within seconds. I guess they've got to get rid of 2018 stock somehow so makes sense that they might issue oldest inventory by default.

Yeah, see my latest reply. I was unmatched and put in custom build queue. I had been calling Tesla sales and yesterday my Sales advisor called to suggest taking delivery with aero wheels with sport wheels on order which will be fitted 2/3 weeks after delivery.
2019 vin, less than 5 miles on the car and never assigned to anyone before. Plus - $400 adjustment. BTW, I am in Bellevue, WA as well!

I ordered a LR RWD. I want to change it to AWD. Who do I need to call or what do I need to do? Just ordered it on 3/17

In my experience it was comically easy: Just call your local store/SC and ask them if they have any discounted AWD cars available. They will first look up your account/order and then they'll check the available inventory in the area. They aren't like a typical dealer that will never ever tell you anything without jumping through hoops for days on end. I spent like 10 minutes on the phone and I did this twice--Second time I was checking on Performance availability "just in case" there were amazing discounts. :p

I placed my order on march 8 for this config :

Model 3 LR AWD
Midnight silver
Sport wheels
FSD

Only got a call on march 12 from my DA to tell me they did not have a VIN for me yet and they would call me back when they do. Financing and everything is done so I wonder how long I'll have to wait considering my account still says
"Estimated Delivery: within 2 weeks from order placed date"

Really hope it does not take too long, I'm not in a rush but hope to have my car early april for my vacation road trip!

They also told me I was eligible for home delivery but I wonder if its the best option.

Ordered yesterday...have a VIN number and delivery date for tomorrow! Need to reschedule the delivery date. I am in the Albany NY area, Mt Kisco pickup location. Build date of December 19, 2018.
  • Long Range All-Wheel Drive
  • Midnight Silver Metallic Paint
  • 19’’ Sport Wheels
  • Black and White Premium Interior
  • Autopilot
  • Full Self-Driving Capability

Was yours black or white interior? Same situation with me (Blue, AWD, 19s, white interior), but I ordered on the 12th vs 11th. Was assigned a 2018 and asked for a 2019 (mainly for insurance reasons given to me by my insurance agent). I totally would've taken the 2018 if I could've gotten some kind of discount, but the delivery specialist refused. He did search inventory, including those with aero wheels and in other colors and the only one he could find in a 2019 was a black exterior car which is about the only color I won't take. White interior is a must have for me though so I'm curious to see if that is what's holding me up. Otherwise I'm on the "let's see what happens in two weeks" list with a few others on here.

Wow... I'm kind of jealous. I guess orders are fulfilled faster in the US than in Canada

Would you all accept a December 19, 2018 build date? I am still getting the number of miles on it but the adviser did say it was less than 50. Still waiting for the number.

That's the date of the one I recently rejected, maybe the same car actually if it's blue AWD with white interior and 19s. Lots are talking about resale value as the reason they'd reject, which is true, but not as much a concern for me as I plan to keep the car for a very long time. Others have claimed they've been told there's new HW in the 2019s which I'm not sure I believe. Ultimately what pushed me to reject was a conversation with my insurance agent. He explained that with all Model 3s, they're far more likely to total the car if there's an accident, even if it seems minor, and for a 2018 there's a high likelihood of the amount they pay me not covering the cost of the car as it will be valued less being a model year older. Yes, there's gap insurance, but then I also run the risk of my rates going up, so in the end I decided I'd rather wait for a 2019.

Did they have any performance in inventory?

You should not accept 2018 build unless you get some type of discount. There were many cars in inventory (in SoCal and other places) that they offered $3K+ discount on them. This is what I got for a non-demo/showroom/test-drive car:

Ordered LR AWD MSM/White, 19", FSD on Feb 28. Just got matched to my 3rd 2018 build. My VIN is actually on the list that was released back in Feb. Not sure if I want to reject and keep waiting. In terms of waiting for the 2019, I've gotten about 5 different answers at this point.

Mine was black interior (although, I admit, White on Blue is dope)! I was a little sad at first about taking delivery with aero wheels (I absolutely hate it) but the $400 adjustment did it for me!

I am picking up. LR AWD with a late Dec 2018 build. My VIN is 146XXX. I have been informed that VINs are not sequential, but I was wondering what your VIN is.

My December, 2018 build they matched me looks to come with a $3300 discount simply for being inventory and “2018”. Only 11 miles and no reported issues. Will report back when I see it.

If all is true, take a 2018 build and get the discount as mentioned by others.

Seems like everyone is getting discounts on 2018 builds but me. I wasn't offered anything and when I asked I got turned down. Now, I'm in TX so everything is being done online/remote since the "stores" here aren't really stores with inventory. I'm wondering if that's where the discounts are coming from since it seems most who get that offer are buying direct from a store.
