I would suggest checking Tesla inventory to see if there's already one nearby or in transit to near you that you can pick up. If not, it seems that the MXLR are delivering quicker than the Plaid from recent deliveries that people are posting.
I would think they would want to push as many of the sub $80k LR models to get delivered this quarter. As the $7500 rebate may change starting in 2024 and that may cause some to cancel their orders.

Not necessarily true. Tesla values profit over orders. They make more on Plaids than on X LR.
Also, I believe the rebate will not change after January 2024. It'll be $7500, and applied at point of sale, technically making the Model X cheaper since you'll only need to finance less amount. Tesla didn't say the tax credit will absolutely be decreased, just that it is "likely."
If the tax credit does decrease to $3750, I believe Tesla will drop the price of the Model X by $3750.
LR are definitely higher volume and you can regularly find them in inventory. I’ve got an MXP on order and it seems like they only batch a few of them at a time. People with 9/1 Plaid orders are just now receiving VINs.

There are XLR in stock in NJ, but no Plaid models. So it seems to push out the LR’s much as they can and someone mentioned, people try to take date of the $7,500 Fed credit.
