I'm sure there's an obvious answer to this question but my buddy lost the ability to purchase EAP/FSD in his month old M3. The option in the menus was there, but is gone now. Any theories/explanations?

Maybe he accidentally bought FSD. The Specs & Warranty link at the bottom of the app screen will list FSD if he bought. He can also check the car’s Control > Autopilot settings and see if the additional features are there.
Yea, I thought the same. The only option he has is to preview FSD visualizations.

Have your friend log out of the app and then log back in. Sometimes that resolves issues like that. If that doesn't work, have him log in to his Tesla account in a web browser and see if the upgrades are shown there (select the Manage link for the car, then select Manage Upgrades).
