Friend, after getting out at the destination: I just bought a Mach E. I know you like Tesla, but I (mumble Musk) so I wanted to buy a car made in the US.

There was no response. We had just arrived at an event 5 minutes late so we were more focused on not being any later.

I really think the "mumble Musk" part of her comment was the real reason and the misinformed fact was just what she was using to justify the more subjective part of the decision. If the discussion had continued I'm sure there would have been backup reasons.

I'm more just amused that there seems to be a default assumption that Tesla isn't MIA because it isn't one of the legacy companies and we're all used to challenges coming from foreign competition.
