Map Default Zoom Level

For some reason, each software update recently seems to increase the default zoom level on the map. At this point my map defaults to a 500’ radius around my position. Not sure how that is helpful. How do I set the default zoom level?

What I'd give for 500'. Mine seems like it defaults to about 50' radius. I understand that 50 feet is enough to show the entire 45 minute commute for Telsa interns but they really need to improve their algorithm for cities that are not Palo Alto. Or at least remember some preference of wider/narrower than the standard zoom level.

Was disappointed that the holiday update didn’t include much in the way of UX improvements. Something as simple as fixing the map zoom (like it used to work on pre-v11 software) would go a long way to improve UX.
