Navigation Zoom In

Is there a way that I can zoom in Tesla navigation and make that default? The reason I am asking is because over the weekend I zoomed in and could see the stop signs/signals. This feature (its already in google maps) really helps in figuring out the proximity when I have to take a turn.

Just to add to this I agree it is annoying how you can't at least zoom in and have it stick. In my older model S you could double/triple tap on the screen and it would not only zoom in but keep your position centered. Seem now you can zoom in only to have your position drive off the screen or after a time it goes back to the default distance.
