I’ll wait to see this corroborated by other sources before I believe it. That article seems a bit low on actual 1st hand information.

This makes very little sense... all the ships arriving in Europe right now would have cars on board that are produced mid-late august in Fremont. All the current US deliveries would actually be manufactured after the cars that are arriving in Europe right now. Unless they somehow have multiple manufacturing lines and are not utilizing the "Europe" line for US deliviers.
