It felt like it took a while to get the VIN. I must be impatient and eager. I’m not doing the windshield as my eyesight at night isn’t getting any better. May go 80% windshield if it feels like its letting in too much heat. Being in MD I was wonder ing about the front license plate. Hope Tesla doesn’t screw one into the front bumper. I‘m not quite sure what they do now?

We went with a light tint on the front windshield, I think it was 70%. It's fine...not too dark for our eyesight at night and it helps in bright sunlight. We went darker on the side windows...40% I think.

We picked up at the Owings Mills location and the stick-on front tag was in the trunk. It's still in the trunk. I bought a Quick Bandit plate mount that mounts to the front grill work and leaves space behind the tag for cleaning. I took the front tag off in August when the Model 3 was in the shop for PPF and tinting and I haven't put it back on yet.

I don't think anyone would get pulled over for a missing front plate or tint, so it's pretty safe. Now if you get pulled over for something else, like speeding, and they notice the missing front plate...I'd expect to get a ticket for the missing front plate.

Late night EDD update for SoCal, and without any surprised–delayed again lol. It's so frustrating at this point to wait until the day after the EDD range to get it delayed, while others are starting to get their deliveries and VINs in other states/regions (with even Dec OD's too).

For anyone curious about insurance, my delivery date is the 26th so i needed to take care of that this week. Me and my wife are in our early 30's with clean driving records. Was quoted $105/mth from MAPFRE, or formerly Commerce Insurance for MA residents. MAPFRE appears to offer insurance in eleven (11) states for those interested. The customer service was top notch. Spoke with the rep via chat on my couch for like 2 hours.

One thing to note, is we also signed up for the MotionSmart Program which is still in its Beta phase. However, we got a 10% discount by enrolling in the program. It's an app that tracks driving speeds, braking habits etc. The rep told me 95% of the drivers will receieve incentives for their improved or stable driving tendencies. Only one of us needs the app on our phone, so i will definitely keep that on my wife's phone since she is a cautious driver If you don't want to enroll in this program, you can delete the app and pay the additional ~$10. I still found this insurance to be quite affordable.

On the other side, Geico quoted us $280/mth lol.

Make sure you add accident forgiveness for the few extra $$$ per year. MAPFRE will destroy your premiums if you're found even partially at fault for an accident. I had an accident which was considered at fault for me where a driver stopped short in the middle of the street with nobody around trying to get rear-ended. There was a ton of back and forth with MAPFRE and their fraud dept. Didn't matter...

I have some questions regarding my booking.



Question 1 - My friend has ordered same trim and color as me on same date car in NJ, and his EDD(01/01/2022-02/01/2022) is different than mine.

So can I change my vechile destination to NJ to pick it up faster?

would there be any delay in my order doing this?also I see that Kansas vechile registration taxes are more higher where NJ has free ev registration

I woke up and checked the app still my EDD was same 02/01-03/01, so went back to bed again.
After all today morning routine I just refreshed the app to see new EDD 01/11 - 02/08.

I ordered the same specs in KC on 12/12, still shows EDD 2/8-3/8. I did switch my color from white to MSM yesterday so I'm sure I'll get pushed some for that change.

Do you actually have a residence in NJ? Otherwise when you bring it back to Kansas (just presuming by your location in your profile) and attempt to register there you will be charged sales tax.

Sorry I haven't been as active last few days but have been enjoying the car too much and didn't have much time
Just wanted to let you guys know(especially the ones still waiting on their cars) the wait was worth it. This car is so much fun to drive!

I also want to share a few things in case anyone is considering doing something similar
1. Charging from a 10-30 dryer plug
- I ran a 25ft extension cord to my garage door and use the 10-30 Tesla adapter - charging at 6kwh or 23mph. Plenty for my needs. Scheduled charging at off-peak hours at $0.17/kwh(YMMV)

2. Aero wheel covers
- Took them off and installed a wheel cap kit. Car looks better IMO and had a few compliments on "the new wheels".

3. Mud flaps/guards
- Just installed. Supposed to rain rest of this week so we'll see how they do.

4. Center console
- These are on their way. The center console has this huge storage space but no way to keep it organized. Tesla should implement something similar IMO

Anyone in the Atlanta area with OD in December? OD 12/10 1st EDD 2/3-3/3- upgraded to the 19in wheel , EDD changed to 12/24-12/31, now another change to 1/25-2/22.
