Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Okay.... I've let Elon know that I'm going to delay delivery. He offered to extend as far as 2/25, but I've asked for 2/22/22 - should be easy to remember. I can always click "I'm Ready" on the website/app and remove the hold earlier.

Since Tesla has not incurred any additional expenses related to my order yet, the deposit and price remain locked in. Of course, if I change the configuration of the vehicle my price tag will update to whatever the prevailing price is. Right now, there's no difference between the $51.9K I locked-in and the current price for my configuration, but I anticipate prices will be going up very shortly. And if I request a delay beyond 2/25 the order will be outright cancelled and I'll be restarting.

Whether the upgraded hardware comes with the next VIN or not, I don't see myself refusing delivery at this point.

So the max hold they do with respect to the OD is indeed 90 days after which they do cancel the order.

I also drove the ID.4. Really liked it, but it didn't have the punch of the M3.. but more than adequate. Did you spend a lot of time with the VW infotainment? if you are concerned about the Tesla, the ID.4 UI is getting hammered in reviews... full disclosure - I have a Golf on order that uses the same UI as the ID.4 and don't care. I'm sure I can learn it.
No, I didn't spend a lot of time with it. Frankly, I don't much care about that -- I'm lots more interested in the fact that the ID.4 has actual physical buttons and levers for lights, wipers, and defrosters. I doubt I'd be using the ID.4's "infotainment" (God, I hate that word!) UI much as long as Android Auto works for navigation and podcasts. As for the rest of the stuff on the screen, most of it can wait until the car's in Park, and then a few extra taps won't matter.

I also think the ID.4 has plenty of kick for our purposes. I have no plans to drive on a track, so I don't care that the M3 can go 140 miles per hour or get from 0 to 60 faster than the Space Shuttle.

And my old eyes had no trouble reading the labels on the ID.4's screen -- I've heard that can be an issue with the M3. We'll see in a few weeks when they have mine ready.

I also considered the ID.4 :) In the end, dealerships were selling 5-10k above list price, and I decided I wanted the better range with the model 3 LR. It drove very nicely though, and looks great.

Today's update is inline with what an SA told me about my car estimated to be built on 1/19/22. I see a few other people on the forum had a reduction in their windows. Hoping for the best!

That's why we love Tesla buying experience. No hidden mark ups, $399 hydrogen tire cost, $499 UV sanitation fee, $799 documentation fee, $2000 vin etching, etc. Not to mention you got to stay there for hours and hours to watch them play those games. It's disgusting how dealerships are allowed to operate that way. Gotta love the *drive to your car, inspect car, accept delivery, drive away", can't beat that.

Appears so. Although (math time!) for me, 90d from my 11/25 OD would be 2/23 - since Dec and Jan have 31 days in them - not 2/25 which he quoted me yesterday.

Oh, I'm sure they would honor 2/25 since they are the ones who quoted it first, but there's no need from my perspective to tilt at that windmill. 2/22 is 89 calendar days and that's good enough for me.

I've been lurking here for a little while, but thought I'd post info from my Journey for my wife's M3LR.

Multi-coat Red, 18" wheels, Black/White Interior, 152XXX, Utah
OD: 11/7
EDD #1 11/28 - 12/25
#2 12/6 - 12/22
#3 12/15 - 12/31
#4 1/18 - 2/28
#5 12/18 - 12/23 VIN Assigned
Scheduled pickup for 12/22
Called on 12/21 to say delivery is delayed
#6 12/26 - 12/31
VIN removed on 12/25
#7 1/6 - 1/20
#8 1/9 - 1/21
#9 1/10 - 1/15 New VIN Assigned
Scheduled pickup for 1/15
Called on 1/11, delivery is delayed, new scheduled pickup for 1/21, but it's not considered an "expectation of vehicle arrival, but simply a place holder"

Still waiting

My MXLR isn't expected until October even though I ordered it before my wife's. She never lets me live that down. :)
SA just told me "we see that your car is on its way so we'll be reaching out by the end of today or tomorrow to schedule an appointment..."
