Model S Ultra Red Waiting Room

Picked up my MSP UR today.
Door alignments are off.
More frustratingly, there is about a 2x1 inch front passenger door paint imperfection vs dent. Hard to tell, just reflects light differently. Not a palpable defect.
I was going to get the car ppf’d but this gives me pause to spend 6-8k to protect a bad paint job….

Overall happy but that definitely threw a wrench in my day.

You may find the PPF makes this issue invisible.

I'd never pay $6K+, either. I've installed Drive Protected PPF on each of our Teslas myself, with the help of my wife & kids. I've found that Eric has great videos & support. One needs to be patient, but I think anyone can do this.

Best wishes with the door alignments, and have fun with your new, beautiful baby!

Went to the Northpark mall here in Dallas to see the Ultra Red last night. It was down in a parking garage and could only see it and sit in under fluorescent lights, but wow the color is beautiful. Definitely prob gonna be my next color when I sell my blue MSP

You can ceramic coat ppf, and I can tell you it makes a big difference in how easily bugs are rinsed off the ppf. I spoke with my detailing shop and they recommended putting ceramic coating over the ppf. Like most things, I suspect there may be reasons not to ceramic coat ppf, but I decided to go ahead and do it based on the recommendation of my detailing shop. I did the ceramic coating myself (and would do it again), so my detailing shop did not make the recommend based on an expectation of additional income.

Joe

Are you ceramic coating the entire car or just the non ppt parts? Why are why not? Just trying to better understand having both done. Thanks.

By the way, has anyone else found a spare ball bearing on the rear floor of their Model S? I read somewhere that someone else on the forum found a ball bearing on the floor of their Model S, and sure enough, I found one as well. Is it really possible that this is accidental? I cannot help but wonder if this isn’t some sort of numerous quality control sign-off procedure. Nothing would surprise me after figuring out that the volume level goes to 11 (for those of you who have not seen the movie “Spinal Tap”, you should). LOL.

Just got her back from the shop and they did an incredible job. Thought I’d post a picture of how it looks with tint.
  • Full body PPF using STEK Dynoshield
  • Llumar IRX 15% on all windows and rear windshield
  • Llumar IRX 50% on front windshield
  • Llumar Air 80 on glass roof
  • Shop owner said he does not recommend ceramic coating on top of the PPF 🤷🏽‍♂️
The lighter glass roof + white seats makes the the 15% tint look like it’s only 30%.

Full PPF? Dang. $6000?

He charged me $6250 total which includes the tint.. the shop PPFed everything including the lights and handles, lol.

I contemplated just doing the front but from the battle scars my previous car sustained at my work's tight parking structure, I just opted to do the full car. It's also nice not to worry about swirls when washing your car, lol.

I woke up this morning with an offer to install 11.4.1 on my 2023 MSP. This is my first official software update, and I went from having no FSD to 11.4.1 today after the install. I do not have anything to compare this version of FSD to since it is my first version of FSD, but out of roughly two hours and thirty minutes of FSD driving today, I intervened roughly seven times, all of them on city streets. The highway performance was absolutely flawless. I live in a rural area, and FSD seemed to have problems with merging left when right lanes were ending and it took roundabouts at an uncomfortably high speed for me (I have FSD on average aggressiveness). Interestingly enough, I did not have to request FSD beta and I did not have any safety score.

got a car and hit the detailing center

STEK DYNOshield PPF Ceramic Coating XPEL XR Plus Tinting Film:
  • Windshield: 70%
  • Roof: 70%
  • Side Windows and Rear Window: 20%
Additionally, the rear taillights were slightly tinted.

BTW if I ordered a car at the end of March, and got it a week ago, am I eligible for a 3-year unlimited supercharger? Didn't find it in the app.
