I spoke with a model X owner at a recent event who had the motorized version several post above. He said it didn't last long because the motor mechanism was not weatherproof by any means. So I went a different route.
. . . $5 & 2yr fade resistant warranty vinal. Best of all - No drilling
Dealer installed mine as well, but I think owners need to ask front license plate bracket(Seattle SC). It is L-shape and no need to drill front bumper.
My Model X was delivered a couple weeks ago. The very nice woman who delivered it was working overtime on Saturday. She told me the front license bracket was in the frunk.
I was reluctant to install the plastic bracket because I couldn’t find directions included in the package!
I’m “handy” and determined it could only go on one way. I marked three holes, took out my drill and drilled just through the plastic. I installed the plate and my California “FastTrack” transponder and it looks okay and seems fairly sturdy. I added some stainless washers to the plate and will fill the screw heads with black silicone for thief frustration. What a car! (you owners know... it’s not “just” a car! )
