Follow up on Price Reduction: I spoke with my OA and with Delivery Specialist regarding the price reduction. It was confirmed since I have not taken delivery of the MX I would get the price reduction. Of course, that is great news. Now I have to be sure those savings appear on the delivery paper work, nevertheless, $3K savings is good at this point.
The $40K and $96K discounts up thread were glitches - they were not real discounts. Occasionally we will see a demo/showroom/loaner car go with a discount approaching (and sometimes, rarely, exceeding) $40,000, but those are cars that typically have older technology (AP1) and a couple thousand miles (or more). They are not brand new cars.
Unfortunately, we can't walk into a showroom and just get $40,000 off. It would be nice if we could!

When I was at our local Tesla store three weeks ago, I specifically asked about these rumored "showroom discounts", especially as their invitation stated that they wanted to present their current showroom offerings at a discount. The discounts on showroom cars were between 1K and 5K, even for older cars. Nowhere near five digit discounts and nothing particularly interesting. The store manager said with conviction that Tesla doesn't do discounts like that, clearly indicating that whoever says they are must be lying.
Now I don't say I don't believe you. But at least on this side of the pond, discounts of such proportions are unheard of.
They are rare. In my case it took a discontinued trim and option packages, plus a price book change, and the car sitting for a few months. That got it up there. Only a handful of people at the local store got deals like that, because there were only so many cars like that in inventory.

That particular discount is unheard of too. At 63K you could have purchased it and turned around almost immediately sold it for at least 10K more at wholesale.If this was achieved - well done!!
