wonder what the real range is - thats 20 miles less than a 3, but is it slightly less efficient than a 3? if it was a solid 250 mile motorway car it might be tempting to consider a swap from my 3LR (bought at £51k so hopefully cheap cost to change). If its more like 200-225 then not so much.

Yep! Perfect timing as I was looking to replace my model 3 for an SUV (needed the more space), almost ordered the iX1 and this morning without hesitation placed my order for the model Y RWD 😁

Saw a comment earlier there's a chance it will come with BYD Blade and made from Berlin?

In summer maybe, in winter it’ll be a 160-180 mile car I’d imagine (based on M3SR+). My LFP M3 will just about manage 250 on a summer motorway drive from its 55 battery. If the MYRWD has a 60 I’d guess that even with the higher consumption it’d be similar.

Plus it’s a chunk slower at 6.6s 0-60.

M3RWD range varies greater with temperature than the MYLR according to various YouTube tests I’ve seen.

Its actually 34 miles as RWD has a range of 317 miles. The LR MY has only 30 miles extra range. Heavier car so cancels out the larger battery.

Do we tend to do longer holiday trips in the summer. Just a thought. They get bye in Norway so range is plenty.

Interestingly, most european countries showing same EDD Dec 2022 - Feb 2023 for MY RWD. This may be hidden clue that they are going to come from Giga Berlin. If that's correct, MY RWD could be coming with Berlin benefits like better suspension etc. (this could be true for MY LR in Q3 deliveries also)

Wishful thinking, still, I would find surprising, given the inability for Giga Berlin to reach its output objectives for MYPs (and few LRs) to cope with adding the SR+ which will be most likely the most popular model....
Let's see if they are able to handle more than two paint jobs first...

If the tesla rep is to be believed, it will most likely be from Shanghai

In my view you should only keep the LR if you regularly do Road Trips, I've has a M3 SR+ for 3 years and have never needed the additional range that a LR would provide.

My personal preference is to base the decision on 'middle non stop trips'. Short trips everything is fine. Long trips even a RWD should be ok once you've assumed you have to stop they all put in 100 miles in about 10 minutes.

The middle distance is the distance you travel and come back without wanting to stop. Eg trip out to the inlaws without charging overnight, and come back the next day - that kind of thing. Done regularly enough that you know the trip and just want it done without a forced stop.

For me that was 100 miles each way, so 200 miles easy range. the old SR+ was not quite enough for 200 miles round trip on motorways, but the new model 3 RWD with LFP larger battery + 100% charge was.

This Y RWD *should* also be over that, but then thats my personal estimated round trip range needed
