Have you noticed over the past 2-3 years, most of the OTA updates request a WiFi connection? That probably is good news for most because it means the update includes a significant amount of software, rather than a small patch. Of course, we still want small patches too for bug fixes. If your home WiFi router won't reach the vehicle it maybe time to get a more powerful one. Alternatively, consider a mesh router system with 1 or 2 satellite access points near the garage or driveway. If you live in a large apartment or condominium, ask management to add an access point. Attached is a picture of an access point I installed in a SW Florida high rise condominium. Signal from this business class dual band access point (AP) was strong enough to reach a ms one floor below. Speed near AP was about 225 Mbps, much faster than the WiFi adapter in any ms.
