MS and MX production decimated

Nobody wants to say this, or even admit it: But the 10% production cut is likely because they are producing more cars than they can sell. There is currently a very large inventory of new, unsold cars.

Visiting a tesla gallery now is almost like visiting a conventional car dealership. There is a very evident pressure to put you in an inventory car. PS and OA’s will freely admit that there is a huge number of inventory cars - “what can I do to put you in this car today?”

While it could be true that the Model S/X demand won't hold up, the primary reason is that they need to move bodies towards producing the Model 3.

Besides the misleading title of this thread, the only thing that has been decimated is inventory car supply. Since last Thursday, Tesla has greatly reduced the number of inventory cars, which can be easily verified by vising the Tesla site or checking on sites like EV-CPO. There are also posts about this on TMC forums.

The number of inventory cars that show on teslas site and EV-CPO are only a small fraction of the actual number of cars available. Hundreds of additional “hidden inventory” cars can be pulled up by a product specialist at any Tesla gallery or service center.

this.
And it is very worrisome sign for Model S/X demand - it is likely peaked/saturated.

I thought everyone knew what decimated meant... Is it different in US English?

I guess it depends on which dictionary definition you use...

If it's #2, technically, it's correct...

Who wants to predict 2018 S + X sales?

I do think sales for those cars will spike when the U.S. tax credit begins to expire. I am confused about when that process begins. I also think Tesla will build inventory leading into that period. So perhaps the production cut is die to that period being delayed.

Because they're constantly manipulating the cars they list online. There's always a large cache of cars available that they never list. It's always been that way, and I have no reason or evidence to believe otherwise.
I don't understand why you would post something like this......especially in this thread.

If its something that has always been done.....then what are we talking about? What's earthshattering about it? What does it have to do with the Model X/S production being decimated?

So can the Tesla staff actually do anything to incentivise a purchase? My understanding of company policy is that pricing remains consistent among buyers, i.e. no individual discounts.
