MY rear ended by F150

My 9 month old Model Y got rear ended by an F150 while I was stopped at a stop sign. I got my first estimate from the insurance company for $3440.00. Hatch is crumpled in the middle. I haven't tried opening the trunk. I'm pretty sure the latch might be compromised. Hatch is definitely misaligned, pushed in and upwards. Huge gap on the right hand side towrds the rear. From OPs experience, how bad is it? I'm more worried about what can't be seen from the exterior.

I got rear-ended on the highway in 2021 (one month into ownership) and the damage sustained looked a bit worse than yours. I had a much bigger dent on the hatch and also on the lower bumper, and the hatch displacement looked roughly the same as yours. However, I opened the hatch and found it operable. Car was drivable and I used the hatch during the 2 months I waited for body shop to take my car in. The initial estimate for the exterior was in the $3k range and the final bill after teardown was close to $7k as there is an impact bar that needed to be replaced. Based on your pictures I would doubt if your damage is worse than mine. But the body shop will find out if there are damages beneath after opening it up. Best of luck getting it taken care of
