I have seen numerous online articles with the phrase “Watch the landing...” in the article title. Which is extremely misleading. Many people will read that and assume that there will be a live video showing the vehicle touching down on the surface. Which of course is not what they will see. What they will see is a NASA spokesperson giving commentary during the landing. There will not be any video images of the lander approaching the surface of Mars. It will be over an hour after the landing before the first still images from the lander are available, assuming the landing is successful.

My wife saw me bring up the online broadcast, and I confirmed that I was "going to watch it live". "You know it's not really in real time, right? And you won't see the landing. What, you just want to see people's reaction in mission control?"

Was it Somalia where the news crews filmed the Marines landing, much to the Marines’ annoyance?
