As long as you have enough wire to properly route the wires inside the wall connector, then yes, it's certainly something you can do yourself. I did it last week. My only issue was that the wires to my NEMA 14-50 weren't long enough to get to where I needed the wall connector so I had to pull new wire through conduit.
Edit: It's a lot of current if you forget to turn off that breaker... If you're not comfortable with that, it shouldn't be too much more to get an electrician to do it for you.
