Tell me about it.

The part number was 1056647-00-A. When hunting for adapters, I've had success just asking by name in the past.
It took calls to 3 different service centers before finding someone in the parts that knew how to order one from the warehouse.

Out of curiosity, why do you need a 6-15 adapter?
I'm going to begin frequenting a location that has 6-20 outlets that are freely available, and I didn't want to buy a TurboCord or Duosida.

Buy a Tesla 5-20 adapter and then make a quick adapter from a 5-20 to 6-20. That way you get to charge at 16A instead of 12A. 33% faster than if you had used the Tesla 6-15 adapter. And you get another useful second adapter in the bargain.

Again out of curiosity, why or where does a location have 6-20 outlets?

I have a NEMA 6-20 for a table saw. This is pretty common in workshops, for saws, planers, compressors and a few other big power tools. L6-20s and 6-15s are pretty common for this sort of application too. In my case, it's only about 10 feet from my HPWC so I don't really need it to charge, but I built the adapter you suggested and tried it out...it works great!

(on the road, I've found the most useful adapters, by far, are the 5-15 and 10-30. The 6-50 and TT-30 have been helpful too. Apart from friends who have EVs, the 14-50 hasn't been useful. I've stayed in a couple of motels that had HVAC plugged into a 6-20, but there was always a supercharger nearby.)

So it turns out no service center in the country has this adapter (1056647-00-A). Looks like I'll have to read the DIY guide after all.

It really isn't hard. Buy a 6-20 cord (https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Cable-9-Feet-Appliance-Conditioning/dp/B000BQU0V2), or a longer one if you need more than 20+9 feet of cord to the car from the 6-20 receptacle, then chop off the receptacle end, and wire in this receptacle (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004285E6Q/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

Then buy a Tesla 5-20 adapter (Model S/X NEMA Adapter) and you are done.
