Private party MAYBE you can do slightly better but you lose so much in piece of mind.

Why do you lose so much in piece of mind? The warranty is just as good buying from private party as from Tesla directly. As long as you inspect it and do your due diligence I don't think private party is a bad way to go at all. Especially since you save a ton on Sales Tax in a lot of states.
