Newb Q--why must I use the brake pedal at all?

(As a relatively new to Bolt driver and uses L a lot....)
Yep. Also, another complaint about Bolt is that once you come to a complete stop via L (and I guess thru regen paddle), the brake lights don't remain on. Some folks have requested that GM turn them on in that case.
I suspect an issue with doing that is that the Bolt's brakes are NOT on when it is stopped like that. Unlike this new "Hold" mode on the Model 3, it appears that the Bolt doesn't lock down the friction brakes when it comes to a stop while still in L. You can tell this by stopping in L on a high % slope (probably around 20% grade) using gentle brake pedal, and then releasing. If the gravity pull down is just past the regen braking strength the car will begin very slowly inching in a roll down the slope.

Contrast to the Model 3, if it is in (H) then the rear brakes are locked down like it was in P or the driver was steadfastly pressing the brake pedal.
