Does anyone know why the Y Performance cannot have 7 seats? My local Tesla store said they do not know.

Isn't that for the suspension and has nothing to do with the cabin? In another thread there was theory that because the performance version is an inch lower, that doesn't leave enough room for the rear seats.
The entire body is lower, which includes the cabin. That means less clearance between motors and cabin.Isn't that for the suspension and has nothing to do with the cabin?
Maybe it is that plus lower ride (close to suspension/motor) and such as others have noted. Seems like they would have known this long ago... but looks like I'll have to go with the 5 seater or give up Performance (to get 7 seater).Anything to do with different motor in P model?
Yes the entire body is lower which also includes the motors. The entire body is lower, which includes the cabin. That means less clearance between motors and cabin.
The motor is on the chassis, which is not considered the body.Yes the entire body is lower which also includes the motors.
It is a unibody design, not a body on frame. There is no separate chassis that is independent of the body. The motor is on the chassis, which is not considered the body.

LOL, Tesla only offers 5 colors to simplify manufacturing, but for some strange reason, they came up with a whole new body for one of their trims??
I don't think so.
They don't make the 7 seater performance because they don't feel like it. If and when they do feel like it, they will make it.
Thanks for the correction. It is a unibody design, not a body on frame. There is no separate chassis that is independent of the body.
But whatever you want to call you structure that holds the motor, it is in the same position relative to the seats on all model y variants. On the performance version everything other than the wheels is lower to the ground. The height difference comes from the suspension.
I...don't think that anyone's implying it's a whole different body for the Performance. That would be incredibly silly. It's pretty obvious that by "lower", it means that the suspension lowers the car (body) further than the other trims.LOL, Tesla only offers 5 colors to simplify manufacturing, but for some strange reason, they came up with a whole new body for one of their trims??
