My 2018 Dual Motor Model 3 has generally been problem-free. I live in Park City Utah at 8400 foot elevation and the drive into town is a 1,000-1,500 elevation drop. Several months ago, I began hearing a clunking noise when going up and down the mountain. At first I suspected something was loose in the glove compartment or frunk, but checking those, it was not that. Looking underneath the car, I see nothing out of the ordinary.

The sound seems to come from deep underneath the car, below the front seats. I don't hear the noise on level road.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm surprised it's taken you this long to hear it. This happens on nearly all early 3's with large elevation changes and when supercharging. The pressure and temperature change causes sections of sheet metal around the battery to flex and cause the clunk/pop. Tesla released a new battery vent to address it but it doesn't always solve it. Most of us just live with it.
