OBD-II Vehicle Diagnostic Port in Model X -- Where is it?

If helpful, companies like Metromile have an adapter to plug into the 12v outlet and into the metromile device. This is a good alternative for those who don't want to plug into the OBDII port and because it's not plugged in shouldn't interfere with the car.

The issue was never interference with the car. The issue is if the device can get the data it needs. Metromile has it's own GPS and other sensors, so apparently it only actually needs power. But plenty of other OBDII devices expect to read data from the car, and thus can't work just with power.

Even the metromile one has a huge issue in Teslas- in other cars it reads the odometer from the OBDII data, and can see if it was unplugged. If all it uses is power, what prevents you from just unplugging it and saying you didn't drive the car? (which is all fun and games until you get into an accident with it unplugged of course)
