Occupancy sensors for Front and Rear Seats

So many of you may have noticed that the passenger-side AC does not come on unless there is a passenger in the seat. Today I was retrieving some packages from the rear seats and leaned on the center section and noticed the rear screen became activated (it was off). I tested this several times to confirm the rear screen activates when one of the rear seats appears "occupied." I was not aware that the rear seats also have this weight sensing technology. Wondering if other have discovered this?
