Would you have bought/buy an electric vehicle (Tesla for most of us) if you knew/know a failed out of warranty replacement pack might cost you more than the car is valued upon pack failure?
This survey is very vague, in general only few cells migh be damaged and there are companies who can repair battery pack.
Also the Model 3/Y have 4 separate battery packs, so not the whole battery might have to be replaced or repaired.

This will never be a thing, from what I've read on here those cars don't last more than a year before needing another fix. You can't just repair "a few cells" and call it a day.

Would you buy a gas engine vehicle if you knew/know a failed out of warranty engine might cost you more than the car is valued upon engine failure? Obviously no one would. But battery packs aren't failing at such a rate outside of the warranty to even be a thing.
