Over charging problems

I have my charge limit set to 80%, but the car is consistently charging to 90%. It hasn’t stopped once at 80% since I changed my charge limit from 90 to 80. I scheduled a mobile service in 2 weeks. But I wondered if anyone else had this issue or knew how to fix it.

Plug car into charger. Sit in it. Set it to 50%. Tell us if your car is still charging. If it stops there is nothing wrong.

Try playing with the settings (messing around with different modes/values) in the car, then set it to 80%. Hopefully it will “stick.”

Tried both. Neither made a difference. Still charged to 90 instead of 80. Weird

Ok, just did that. I ran it down from 90 to about 85%. Set the charge limit to 50%. When I plugged in to my Tesla home charger 3, it started to charge to 90% again. This is bizarre.

Might be silly, but did you try a soft reset(both steering wheel buttons pressed at once) or a 'complete' power off(in the service menu? I'm not convinced that the power off really powers off anything, but whatever.

Do you have any third party apps installed, i.e. Teslafi, Teslamate, Tezlab, Stats for Tesla or Optiwatt with access to your Tesla account?

If that's the case I'd leave it unplugged and stop charging it. Something is seriously wrong and I wouldn't want to end up with an overcharged battery.

What? Didn’t know you could do that.

I wouldn't call for service until I deleted the app from my phone and reinstalled it. I'd also perform a hard reboot of the car by pressing the brake pedal down and both scroll wheels until the screen blacks out. I had a problem with my passenger side windows not working. Soft reboot didn't remedy it. Hard reboot solved the problem.

I scheduled a mobile repair last night and I just received a software update. I wonder if that’s a coincidence or by design? Currently installing 2021.32.21

Wait… now it’s done with 2021.32.21 and installed 2021.36.5.1
