Partial VIN, that’s the first I’ve heard of this?

The CS representative described it like this, a VIN has been assigned to my vehicle that is in production or produced. This VIN then has to go through a few steps of confirmation before it can be provided to me. They claim it is to guaranty the actual vehicle build with this VIN was completed, sent to, and arrived at the correct delivery center. All they were able to do was give me a partial VIN (last 6 characters) until then. It sounds like I have a full VIN assigned but I was only provided with a partial of it. I was told I have to wait for the email and a call to get more information and delivery date. I hope to be contacted this week since I was told it takes around a week from the time VIN is assigned to arrival at delivery center. They also said they can hold it up to a month.

P3D+, Silver Metallic, Black, EAP, FSD, San Diego, VIN 63xxx

Love that you are getting yours... No ill will meant your way, but why someone who reserved years after me and configured after me with my exact same build and who lives further away is getting theirs before I have heard a peep from Tesla; I have a hard time understanding. Guess they just had more trucks going to Chicago????

Yeah I don’t get it either. Bummed for you but be patient. You’ll get yours too! I wasn’t expecting to hear anything until October.

Also I’m not trading in (will sell my Infiniti myself) and will be paying cash. Not sure how much any of that matters, if at all.

Good to hear some SoCal VINs are being assigned.

For those getting home delivery, this was interesting. I just got an email from my Home Delivery Specialist yesterday and he said my car was done and ready to ship. He strongly suggested getting to my nearest service center, (6 hrs away) as the car is going to go there first anyway. Then they will 3rd party ship it to the home address and that process could add 7-10 days, plus or minus a few. I was never sure if Tesla actually did the home delivery themselves but this sheds light on it now.

No, they use a third party enclosed transport company. That’s odd that they’d ask you to drive 6 hours though

Update: as of last night my edit button is gone and page updated to allow loan and trade-in info. Assuming this means things are close.

Per your configuration date, I would have to say yes. We are one month from the end of the 3rd quarter and that means they’ll be pushing to be cash positive. The PM3 are a high dollar car so it only makes sense to get those deliveries done.

That’s what I said, they use a 3rd party company to ship it from the service center to home. His biggest reasoning was me not having to wait another week or more, and that the 3rd party shipper wouldn’t be able to answer any questions about the car like the service center could. However, at this point I feel we all are more knowledgeable than some of the Tesla employees. :D

Just received VIN! 72XXX

Looks like all the Blue P3D+ have been part of a large batch. Mine is also 72XXX, but I have yet to officially get my VIN or contact from a delivery specialist. Either way, great to see tons of movement, congrats!

Would love to see a smooth progress but the “Texas Hold Up!” thread has me a little anxious. Fingers crossed and laying off the refresh game for a while.

Looking at the Model 3 Order Tracker data, I see this:

How is it possible that it says "100% in 49 days" when there are people without VIN that have waited 90+ days? @lairdb ?
