Called Tesla today and got my VIN! Unfortunately, according to their tracking, the car is still in Cali... So it'll be a while before I see it in Florida. Still, it's a step forward. Here's my summary for those interested

First day in line waiter
Configured June 27
MSM, P3D+, ETC
VIN: 73xxx

I have the exact same build, Config'd 7-13, VIN 73XXX, live in north east Florida and mine is scheduled for delivery on 9-22 so you cannot be far behind ;)

How is it possible that it says "100% in 49 days" when there are people without VIN that have waited 90+ days?

Here is why all current Model 3 Performance orders by reservation holders or owners are expected to finish production in 44 days by 10 Oct 2018.

In the last few weeks. AWD production has increased a lot and they started to process lots of orders. The P VIN queue by reservation holders is already 38% complete. Out of 266 P3D buyers with reservations, 101 have already received their VINs and 26 more are receiving VINs per week which means 26/266= 10% per week.

Here is what you should expect for P3D with reservations:

27 Aug 2018 (today): 38% complete
4 Sep: 48% complete
11 Sep: 58% complete
18 Sep: 68% complete
25 Sep: 78% complete
2 Oct: 88% complete
9 Oct: 98% complete

However, this calculation includes only people who have already placed orders. People who will place orders in the next few days and weeks are not included. I plan to add them too because they too will receive priority over non-reservation holders.

What prompted you to call them? What did you ask them when you called? Debating just calling them at this point... but half expecting them to just be like yep, you don't have a VIN, we will let you know when we have one for you, quit tying up our line.
Just call them. They are super nice and that is their job to help you learn more about your expensive purchase. I just said- “hey a lot of cars are showing up with my same configuration and similar order date, could you do me a huge favor and see if there is a VIN assigned for me yet?” If there is, expect an email within a week. If not, simply ask if everything looks in place. The online configuration status is not the place to go for updates. I get delivery next week and it’s still behind. Do it Butter!

In the last few weeks. AWD production has increased a lot and they started to process lots of orders. The P VIN queue by reservation holders is already 37.6% complete. Out of 266 P3D buyers with reservations, 101 have already received their VINs and 26 more are receiving VINs per week which means 26/266= 9.8% per week.

Here is what you should expect for P3D with reservations:

27 Aug 2018 (today): 37.6% complete

11 Sep: 57.2% complete
18 Sep: 66.9% complete
25 Sep: 76.7% complete

Thanks for the explanation Troy! That does make sense. I guess I'll just hurry up and wait!

I'm a 4/17 (not 4/16) reservation holder, ordered AWD on 8/9 and still have edit button and delivery estimate says September to November. On Thursday I plan on switching it to performance base model. any idea when I would get delivery? I'm trying to time it for either late October or early November as I will be traveling a bunch for work. I live on the east coast.

@Johnabis, the data shows that production for current P3D orders by reservation holders will finish on 10 Oct 2018. Average VIN to delivery time for Pennsylvania is 17 days. That means the latest estimate for your delivery is 27 Oct. However, your delivery is more likely to happen before that because Tesla doesn't care about the reservation date or configuration date for this group or for any other criteria such as color choice or wheel choice. They process all P3D orders in random order. Therefore you would have to be the unluckiest person to receive your car on 27 Oct.

If you order now, your delivery will be between 13 Sep and 27 Oct, based on my calculation. All days between these two dates are equally likely.

Thanks Troy I appreciate it. maybe i'll wait until September to change my AWD order to performance

Delivered! Only one small alignment issue between the passenger side quarter panel and the bumper. They took it back into the shop and popped the bumper off. It's closer, but not perfect. I'll see how much it bugs me.

Otherwise, perfect delivery! For the record, Monday morning at the Fremont delivery center is dead. Definitely a good time to go.

Congratulation. Were there any paint issues?

Hey man

I called cause I've been unable to enter in my trade information. Keep getting an error. So I called Tesla HQ and they told me not to worry about that. I can do that later when I'm closer to delivery. He said one I have a VIN, I should get a call from the ISA. I asked nicely for them to check if I have a VIN... And they said I do. Later in the day, I spoke to the guy at the center who gave me my test drive on the model 3. He looked up the VIN and I asked him to email it to me.

I honestly played dumb the whole time. I did it all under the pretense that in case it was close, I needed to look into my trade in and setup my financing. There's turn to it but honestly, I wanted a status update since I've never really called or asked for one.... Ever.

call them. better yet call the service center that you expect to pick up the vehicle from. i did this as well as corporate...
ask them (local) to speak to delivery specialist. ask the specialist if you’ve recd vin yet, if there is info in the “end of line” field in their database, which indicates production (so i’ve heard).
ask them, based upon your RN, when you should call back for more info in case there is none at this time.
