Just got my MY LR in MSM. I washed it today and while drying it I noticed the surface of the hood felt rough. Lo and behold there is pitting and surface rust on the hood! Made an appointment for next week to see what they are going to do about it.

Probably rail dust from transport. The good news is that usually a detail (clay bar) can fix it if you catch it early.
Yeah, that looks like iron contamination of your clearcoat. I'd pick up some iron remover to decontaminate and then see what it looks like after that.
