Performance Waiting Room

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Encouraged that 7 Performance models were added to existing NY inventory.
And six of those had the White interior.
Now if they would just send that white on white
Seeing that I’m in the dc metro area and theirs a MSM performance sitting on a lot burns a huge hole in my face. Specially with how Tyson has been handling my order, I’m likely to call Springfield NJ and see if I can pick that one today and drive up there.

Nice that there are finally some ones showing up in inventory! Though only black and silver, as far as I can tell, and I'm partial to blue or red. Just gotta wait for Tuesday.... just gotta hold on... three more days.... :)

Update from yesterday's delivery

-MSM/White/FSD
-Ordered April 17
-Automated Text & VIN: April 26
-Delivery (Brentwood, TN - aka Nashville): May 03, car had 6 miles on it, was charged to 90%

Carbon Fiber spoiler installed from factory - more on that in a second. It did come with NEMA 14-50, but did not come with USB phone charger 90-deg cables.

Lots of communication (OA, Document Readiness Specialist, Delivery manager) inside 48 hours of delivery. I did have to pull info from my OA between April 26th and May 1st, but mostly because I wanted a very specific financing question answered and hounded them every day.

Delivery went very smoothly. They did ask me to sign the MVPA as my very first step. I said "may I look over the car before I sign?" They had no issue with that and were happy to let me pour over the car. It started to rain right as I got to the car so they moved my car into the service bay and gave me all the time I needed. I would rate the experience pretty high (9/10). Car was nicely prepped, the delivery specialist was clearly working very hard for me to have a good experience.

Issues (1 small, 1 medium):
- 2 small paint areas that needed light buffing (about the size of a quarter) took 2-3 minutes, rectified on the spot so I'm not counting these.
- Small: Carbon Fiber spoiler appears to be lifting up (2-3mm?) on the passenger side. Honestly, if I wasn't looking for gaps based on info from this forum, I wouldn't have even noticed. As long as it doesn't lift any more, I'm probably going to be satisfied with it as-is.
- Medium: Rear seat center console: a 6-8" gash in the leather that's on the side. Not noticeable when center console is up. I imagine they will replace the whole console pad, it seems to be held in by two bolts. They did not have any cushions in stock, of course. I have plenty of pictures (to include a picture of THEM taking a picture of it, while sitting in their service bay).

Interior and Exterior fit & finish were excellent otherwise. Gaps were great.

Drove the car 1/2-mile before loading it on the trailer for the trip to the PPF/tint shop. The car is painfully-fast!!! I did put it into Valet mode before handing the car card over to the PPF folks. I trust them, but still :) I cannot wait to get it back.

Brentwood had ~4 M3P's on the lot, they had clearly just gotten a shipment. All had CF spoiler.

Overall, I love the car and would be happy to purchase from Tesla again, and would recommend the Brentwood, TN store!

I wouldn’t wish that drive on you. Or the road debris exposure of i95.
My observation that since January it was rare to find a Performance model not spoken for even demos.
And that talk about white interiors being hard to produce or limited in some respect when the bulk of this rare car were in white.

I’m hopeful the famine of matching demand in this waiting room is coming to an end

I hope so to man I really. However I got a random email from Tesla asking me to confirm all my details about the car but all that stuff has been confirm weeks ago. So maybe it’s getting closer to DD time

Looks gorgeous! Congrats! That MSM + White was a tied for second with Blue + White but first choice was always MCR + Black, Monday can’t come soon enough.

We picked blue/black, and looking at various pictures here, I'm torn on whether blue/white would be better. Without the young kids, I think we might have done it, but they're like runaway nanotechnology -- turn anything within reach into mess.

No that’s a good a call. No matter how good they claim the white holds up its still white. Also hate to say it now but say there is the Model 3 2022 (Audi like interior, AI that tells you “Elon for president”...) and you decide to sell to upgrade I think Black is a safer bet from a resell standpoint. I think the X Paint + White is more unique but not more practical (cleaning, maintenance, kids). Put that all aside and White is gorgeous with the right combination. All my opinions.

Thank you!

My wife talked me into it. I was originally going to do white/black, then fell in love with the white leather on a test drive, and thought white/white would be a bit much for my taste. MSM/white is very close to my current car, but is different enough to still be very exciting!

I vacillated between blue and white for a while. I like the blue with white interior, or white wiht black. But yeah, I've got 3 kids, and the white interior was really what drove me to end up picking white/black, instead. If only they would have cream or tan be an option.

Not sure what is going on with things, had a different person reach out to me who is now my advisor. And it turns out that there is a vehicle they'll match to me. In my configuration, 750 miles with an $850 adjustment. So I have to think about that, I sent some questions about it.

And that one is no longer an option. So I'm in the queue to be built. Looks like all the inventory ones I have seen from perusing places east of the Mississippi are either black or MSM.
