"Phantom Drain" causes and solutions

If I understand correctly...I think what happened for you was...
Every now and again you get “lucky” and the car is awake when you check it! The widget and app will instantly reflect this usually.

Right, I totally left it open for that possibility, like I said ... I didn't test it :D ... thought it might be related to background app possibly.

So I assume the widget asks the server if the car is awake, and if it is it updates the stats?
Why wouldn't the server keep the latest stats and let the app query that? Privacy issues?

My normal use case is seeing the widget or the app have stale data, possibly 24 hours old even. I usually force-close the app, so the rare/only time I noticed non-stale data in the widget and also noticed the app open in the background, I thought it could be related.

Obviously with my one data point I should have started a thread stating that this is conclusively how it works until proven otherwise! LOL :D
