Strange it fell off using the velcro. I had it on the back plate of my MS and drove to Italy in the summer of 2019 when the temp was way over 100 on the continent and the car left in the sun. I've done it again on my M3.
Maybe not all velcro is the same, I guess some may be official and some made to look like it (and its possible the unofficial stuff use cheaper glue thats better in high temps but a bugger to remove if you ever needed to). Vinyl on the back isn't that easy as the surface isn't flat.
