Porsche Whistleblower: “60% of all delivered Taycan have battery issues“

Nope, it was plugged in for 2 weeks, came home and it’s dead. Not the 12v …. Salesman said it was their fault keeping it plugged in.
Well it doesn't short by itself? This is explainable, not voodoo.
My guess is, since charging cable is stuck and a dead car, 12 V went empty. That could happen if something, e.g. a cabin light or maybe the cooling associated with AC charging kept active for 2 weeks. Or maybe the system that checks sosc while charging.

The question then is why doesn't the 800V battery with 90ish kWh charge the 12V battery, anf AC charger replenish the 800V. That is a software bug that needs to be fixed. Or it could be a broken 12V battery only.

Tesla has this in check, unless you run below 5 or 10% SOC the 12V charging is stopped, could leve you stranden well before 0%.
Some other brands have different 12V charging algorithms, but they are not published.

I don't know how Porsche's algorithm is, just speculating it might only charge 12V while driving, then this could happen.

A friend who has a Tesla decided to try a few other options. He ordered 2 x Taycans, 2 x EQS and 2 x Hummer.

They received their first Taycan 3 weeks ago and left town for 2 weeks. The Taycan was plugged in at home the whole time and today they found it completely dead. They can’t open the doors and the charger is locked to the car, so they called Porsche who’s answer was you aren’t supposed to leave it plugged in.

He’s instructed them to come and pick it up and he’s done with the car. His second order is canceled and he’s sticking with Tesla.

Does anyone know if this is actually true and you aren’t supposed to leave it plugged in ?
Let us know about the EQS and Hummer. EQS seems a to be a nice car, Mercedes knows better than VW how to make things right.

It seems like dead plugged-in Taycans are the result of two problems:

  1. Taycans aren't sleeping when plugged in, running the battery down.
  2. Taycans aren't programmed to charge as-needed when plugged in. Once the car reaches its set charge level, it stops charging until it is unplugged and plugged back in or manually told to start charging.

Do any members here have a Taycan they can use to confirm these behaviors? How about those OTA updates, Porsche?
