Post delivery service promised, still waiting to hear from Tesla

Picked up my Model 3 Performance on September 29th at Fremont.

During the pickup process the Tesla delivery guy (who was an engineer at Tesla moonlighting as Tesla delivery man to help out, really nice guy) told me to note down any issues we find with the car. He said that Tesla will expedite these requests in the first 5 days so that customers can get that new car feeling. I pointed out a few issues and he took photos of them.

It's now a few weeks later and I haven't heard back.

I tried calling Tesla customer service line and nobody is picking up. I am still waiting on my license plates, nervous about not receiving them on time.

Anybody else have similar experience? Did your consultant promise to expedite issues found on the car? And did they deliver on that promise?

You should have a temporary registration stuck to the lower right corner of your windshield. That serves as your tags until the permanent ones come in. It could take up to 90 days for the DMV to process the registration, but I've heard that people are receiving their tags in 3-4 weeks.

Follow up with your local Service Center about the outstanding issues. You should have been given 24 hours to report them, so I hope your delivery person took notes for a "due bill" to make corrections. I was able to email the Delivery Specialist the next day to document the issues. We stopped by the SC the week after delivery and made an appointment for the corrections to be made.

You should have a better response if you can work with your local folks. The few times I've reached out to the customer service line, they have referred me back to either my Delivery Advisor or the local SC.

Don't the temp registration expire after a month? What happens if I don't receive the license plate after a month has passed?

My post delivery fixes are now over 2 months old. No call. They had originally told me five weeks for parts to arrive. I plan To follow up soon, but because they are immaterial to the operation of the car I haven’t worried about it knowing that Tesla is in the midst of delivery hell. I’m a little annoyed but not surprised.

My delivery driver noted my stuff and someone from my SC emailed me about 3 weeks later to setup an appointment with the body shop. He wanted to set the bodyshop appointment about a month out and said they are a bit backed up. I assume in your area they are even more backed up so it may just be a matter of time.

My worry is that waiting for a bodyshop while driving around without PPF will probably get you worse damage than you are trying to get repaired.

I don't know if they are doing something new as far as getting delivery issues into the service center seamlessly. When we took delivery a few months ago, it's up to us to get to a SC and they'll know about what we had noted at delivery.

I would just call the SF service center (or whichever Bay Area service center you want to go to) and schedule an appointment. Or you can make one online through your Tesla account. The nice thing about the Bay Area is we have a lot of service centers to choose from. I have heard great things about the SF SC but haven't personally gone there as it's not in a particularly convenient location.

We actually never ended up taking our delivery issues to a SC. I had a mobile ranger out to fix one of them (and a new issue that cropped up) and that was a pretty good experience.

Bay Area owner here. Delivery at Center on 9/23. The info and photos from the Due Bill were sent by our DA to our local service center (the one we selected at delivery) within a few days of delivery. I called our SvC the following week after delivery to set up an appointment for the due bill work. Appointment was set for 10/5, received an appointment confirmation email on the 4th from the SvC, and later that same afternoon received an email that Tesla in our area was now processing all due bill body paint and fitment issues through a new Pop Up Center in Fremont, essentially freeing up the SvCs for other work. So our due bill appt at our SvC was cancelled and we had to reschedule a date for work at the Pop Up Center. That work was then set for 10/9. Been just over a week and waiting to hear when our car will be done. I had to reschedule our detailer once and now wondering whether that will have to be postponed yet again to allow any paint work to cure before PPF can be done. Once the car is done there I'll find out what the recommended time Tesla says is needed for the cure. Can't wait until all this post-delivery work is done and I can just enjoy the car. Only had a week or so of tease time!

To anyone waiting to schedule due bill issues, I'd suggest contacting the service center you chose as your regular center and ask them how to schedule your work. If Tesla set up a Pop Up Center nearby, I don't think you can call them directly to set up the appointment but not sure.

Given the 3rd quarter push to deliver so many cars, safe to assume some areas where lots of cars were delivered will have a wait for this work.

When I got my 2012 Volt, it took 3 months for the DMV send me my plates (purchased @ dealer on 2/10, didn't receive plates until end of April). So.....it's been a problem before and I was pulled over by the police once before I got my plates and they didn't seem to ask questions (I left my headlights off at night accidentally due to me charging having the car on in the car). They were more interested to learning about the Volt (their first EV) than giving fixit tickets lol.
