Last proposed budget featured a 2% year-over-year decrease in NASA funding.Sure hope that's followed by, "Trump increases NASA's budget 10-fold"...otherwise it doesn't matter much.

Yes, and we saw what happened... they landed men on the moon once upon a time, and it has been how many years? That's as I recall. We all know JFK also reduced the budget while asking for similar tasks...who needs funding when you have vigor?
I don't think we should be afraid of a little government competition! Why should the Govt only fund NASA and not SpaceX to do the same job of landing man on Moon or Mars? if the objective is to land Americans on another celestial object, with American technology launched from US soil, then the Govt should open up funding to all entities that can accomplish this - which is SpaceX and NASA.
Actually, NASA landed men on the moon six times in total: Apollo 11, Apollo 12, Apollo 14, Apollo 15, Apollo 16 and Apollo 17.Yes, and we saw what happened... they landed men on the moon once, and it has been how may years?
I wanted to give you five thumbs up for that one! You cracked me up!!!Has someone discovered coal on the Moon?
