I went to the Tesla Rocklin service center today and they sorted out the problem in about an hour. Basically they hollowed out the port opening and now the connection is so much easier. They were very familiar with the problem, and the service provided was excellent!

For regen, you don't want a separate battery, you want a super capacitor as it is way more efficient. Use it to buffer out the peaks and lows of power draw from the battery.

I think the bank is always Chase. Down payment depends on what they are willing to loan you based on your credit and income. Don't think the rate changes. Taxes and fees are all extra, less the $2,500 payment when ordering.
