I think MrM of the shipping thread fame stated a while ago that the key cards are taped to the centre console for transit so could be glue marks, hopefully.

Does anyone know if it has to be the registered owner who drops off the car/takes the loaner?

I've always been asked to provide the DVLA thingie (for all drivers) - which provides a one-time code that they can look up for validity of license / convictions etc. From memory there is a big excess (which is usually covered by your insurance company - given that you aren't driving your own car whilst it sits at Tesla) - but you might want to check that normally it is "any loaner that Dealer provides", but worth checking in case Tesla give you an MS-P and yours is an M3SR , and £100 a day charge it you cannot pick up promptly once the work is completed.
