Process for using a Tesla solar credit for Model 3?

Has anyone used at least one of the $750 Tesla referral solar credits when buying their Model 3? Do they just automatically subtract it from what you owe them when you go sign papers or is it something you have to prepare in advance of delivery?

So far the people I'm asking at Tesla is looking into it too but they don't yet have an update. So I was curious if anyone else already went through this and knew.

FYI, my delivery guy looked into it and looks like they want to setup the referral credit on the contract before scheduling delivery. I'm glad I told them about it now rather than during delivery. Seems like very few people have done this, at least I was the first for the guy I'm going through.

Final update: Got my car yesterday. Credit was not applied to the car automatically like my delivery specialist was told. Fortunately the team at the Fremont delivery center was extremely helpful and spent the time to get approval to apply it to the paperwork. Since I had already paid my down payment, I essentially had to borrow $750 less from the bank, making my monthly payment go down a bit. Very happy!

Was this from having a powerwall or SolarCity? When I made my reservation I installed SolarCity solar on my roof. Due to some complications at my new home SolarCity/Tesla was the only solar vendor I could use. I live in a semi rural part of town and couldn't get a powerwall without running a new line from the street, 15k minimum cost. I decided on solar only, do I qualify for this 750 referral? Thank you

Shygar, I was trying to do the same at Dedham MA tesla store. Told my delivery specialist that I want to use 3*750 tesla credit on Aug. 1, and the delivery on Aug. 25 failed because they couldn't apply the credits. Of course in your case Fremont is closer to tesla HQ but it's dumb they haven't established the process.

Do you have any contact or number in Tesla I can reach out to have it quickly fixed for me? Thanks!

What the OP was referring to was that he recommended Tesla solar to someone with their referral code. Tesla’s referral program pays either 500 cash or 750 Tesla credit for each new customer install who uses your referral code. 5 referrals max.

well, the referral page doesn't exclude anything for using the credit. in my case, tesla has no problem for me to use the credits in my M3 order but just couldn't figure out a way to do that...
Have you taken delivery yet? The person you talked too probably didn't have an issue but there is no way to apply it because it can't be done. My Inside Delivery Adviser as well as the Customer Service person I called both told me it could not be applied to the purchase of a vehicle.

I ask Tesla and was specifically told that the credit can not be able to the Model 3 or online orders. Must be used in store.
The credit absolutely can be used for the Model 3. This is what the customer support told me recently when I got my second credit:

Tesla Credits can be used for most transactions except for apparel found in the Tesla Store (except the radio flyer kids Model S). It can also be used for:

* Purchase costs for Model S/X/3 (not deposits)

* Services or repairs

* Vehicle accessories purchased through the Service Center

* Pre-Paid Maintenance Plans and Extended Service Agreements purchased through the Service Center

Have you done it? Please see my post above yours. Customer support as well as my Inside Delivery Adviser told me it can not be applied. IF you have success in applying it to your Model 3 order and have proof, please let me know so I can get some sort of recourse because now I have $750 of in store credit to buy overpriced shirts and car covers.

I have done it, yes. Please see my update from above on April 5th. Try sending an email to [email protected], although they don't respond quickly to that email. Probably your only option is to switch it to the $400 check instead, but maybe they can figure out something.

yes, I'm scheduled this Saturday to bring back the model 3 with 2*$750 tesla credit applied to the order. The credit will save u some tax as well.

Try start as early as possible to talk to your delivery store to apply the tesla credit.
