Hey guys,

Anyone have any recommendations for a radar dectector that works in a Model S? I heard the windshield can block signals (i.e my EZpass doesn’t work).

Is it switched 12V or always on? What year is your S? I’ve found the fuse box in the passenger kick panel and found a usable switched 12V source, but if I can put it in the mirror that would be a lot easier.

I've been well-rewarded with a Bel(tronics) Pro 500 windshield mount model, which worked fine in a 2014 S85, and works better in a 2017 S90D. Hardwire it to a handy 12V source and away you go. My previous Bel RX-85 (or similar model name - can't recall exactly at the moment) was just fine, but the newer model enables tagging of false signals and speed traps, respectively.

I tapped mine to a switched 12v. Plenty available underneath the center console where the cup holders are. Just pop out the panel to the right and a bunch of wires are available. I remember posting some pictures in a thread If you want to search my forum posts.

Yeah i posted pictures somewhere on here about it. Ill see if i can find it. I find the search tool on here pretty useless lately though.
