well, I'd want a 2018 or early 2019, since they've got the pano roof. I could theoretically do it for less than 10k. When you say 'upgrade batteries', you mean upgrade the car or do a battery swap with a shop?

My 2018 is down to 222 at 100%, from 254 at the highest. winter range is even worse. Considering 'upgrading' to a used 2018 S100D that I found, but not sure of the hassle of having to sell my old S. That and trying to convince the wife. Would be giving up FUSC and FSD (3.0) for paid and EAP...

IT's all about cost. What's Tesla gonna charge you for a reman pack? What's 057 gonna charge you for the same pack? If you're at a point where you don't like the degradation level you're at, or want more range, then get to 057 tech.

Vote to replace the pack. I'm holding onto my 2018 MS til they pull it from my dead hands since it has a sunroof, free supercharging and STALKS. I will not buy another S until they bring back the stalks and would rather spend 20k to get a 100D battery on my 18 than give Elon another cent.

I'm at 226 range on a feb 2018 build. Avg is 328 wh/mi (go go cold weather!). My highest ever recorded was 254 when new, so I've roughly lost 10% over 5 years.

There's a reason this is listed as DIY. I learned how to do it myself after initially thinking there was no way I could do it....guess what, I did...and so can you!

a single jack can lift the car high enough to do one side at a time. Front to back. switch sides, repeat, done.

Not directly through the infotainment. Only via bluetooth from your phone / other connected device.

If anyone is in the market for doing this, I've been cleaning out my basement and came upon my EasyJtag, a stand, and probes that I used to do my own DIY MCU2 upgrade. You just need to place the probes and get writing! DM if you're in the market and we'll work something out.

Having done this and AP3 upgrade myself on a 2018, I would recommend just paying tesla to do it. If you can root your MCU2, then it will be significantly faster though and might be worth it to DIY.

It can be turned off by switching what shows on the IC. I just don't want it popping up by default.

Anyone know if it's possible to prevent the Nav from showing on the IC automatically? I don't need it to show up there and I HATE having to manually change it. every. single. time. Thanks!

I got mine late last night, but sadly am on holiday and can’t see it first hand.

If you’re doing it yourself, it just gives you a list of files to transfer over. It doesn’t actually do the work unless you’re Tesla.

What is your IP when connecting to MCU? I was having issues until I changed my IP address...it was magical when it actually worked. Did you transfer all the required info to the GW from your MCU1?

Yes, you can lift out high enough with one Jack to get both tires off on one side.

Build date is on a sticker on the drivers side door, if it's april 2018 or later, it's mcu2. march can be a crapshoot. Jan / Feb is MCU1

I ended up buying a harness from a totaled MCU2 model S and grabbed the cable from that. You'll have to look around since I couldn't find anyone selling the connector to the tuner itself ANYWHERE. tried contacting the manufacturer, and they said "Why do you want this plug?" lol.
