Radar Mount for 2022+ Model S - Recommendations?

Hi Everyone!

I've given up on hardwiring my Escort MAX 360, so I don't void any warranties. I've seen a guide or two, but I'm not sure I want to deal with different service manager responses should there ever be an issue.

However, I would love to know what recommendations are for mirror mounts. My radar has been in a box for over a year and a half.

I saw a thread mentioning a mirror mount that a user could make work. I reached out to Blendmount, and they said the following:

Unfortunately, we do not have a mount for the Tesla Model S (or S Plaid). We have tried to create one without success. Sorry about that. I know some people on the Tesla forums are trying our mounts to make it work, but they have to make modifications. We are unsatisfied with the fitment, so it's not in our Vehicle Fit Guide. We don't want you to damage your car, device, and or mirror, and we want you to be able to adjust your mirror fully. We are not responsible for any of the above-mentioned problems that could occur should anyone use our mounts on a Model S or S Plaid.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? I'd rather not attach it to the windshield since my windshield is tinted. I would be interested in some mount off the screen, assuming it doesn't add too much weight - but most of those are built for phones.

I appreciate the recommendations!

I've never heard of a warranty issue from hardwiring a dashcam or radar detector. I've added all sorts of devices to my Teslas over the years and never had an issue with service. Now Tesla (or any manufacturer) would not cover damage to the car with a botched installation. If you don't feel comfortable with electrical work, using the Power Plug is the best choice.

Sorry, I don't have any ideas on a Tesla-specific mirror mount.

Thanks, @vcor!

While at the Service Center, I asked if it would be an issue and where they recommend tapping in after reviewing all the threads. The Service Advisor mentioned the whole 12v battery and warranty etc... that's what I was referring to. Agreed and am comfortable tapping in, nor do I think it will be an issue. I'm just trying to avoid issues with the service center in general.

Thanks for the guidance. Acknowledged on the mirror mount. I will try the Blendmount BMG-2035 mentioned in the other thread and see for myself at this point.

Thanks again!

In years past with various vehicles I've had great luck fashioning my own rearview mirror mount for radar detectors using bicycle reflector brackets. The one for the seat specifically. They're cheap (probably free @ your local bike shop since most people have them taken off) and come in various different sizes.
