Rear strut leak?

Hi all - new owner, used model y here. I took of the (passenger side) rear wheel well liner for cleanup and sound deadening install. I noticed a oil leak tell tale on the strut dust cover. I don't hear any weird noises or notice any movement issues - however i am not fully familiar with what's normal yet. Has anyone noticed something like this on their strut?

Did you touch it? Is it oily? If so, schedule a claim with Tesla. Hopefully they don’t tell you that you hit something and it’s not covered, that seems to be their new line

It is oily and caked with dirt. The other side is fine (visually). I guess i'll chat with service center. The trouble is - i didn't buy the car from tesla - I bought it from a dealer.

Warranty? If not, the strut is easy to replace and doesn’t require an alignment. Any shop can do it

Thanks for reading- booked an appointment for service. Both rear struts were replaced under basic warranty by Tesla service center.

You got lucky, I had a leaky rear damper on my Model 3 and they only replaced the one that was leaking. Mine was making noise too. Interesting they replaced both for you. Tesla isn't usually that generous.

I don’t see how oil from the shock would get on the outside of the dust boot. If the shock was leaking oil it would be running down the lower part of the shock from the piston down.
