Picked up the car at the end of 9/28.



Read on for my delivery/pickup experience, otherwise, best of luck!

Initially they scheduled home delivery for 9/29 between 8AM to 12 PM but I finalized everything during the day and the SA asked if I wanted to pick it up that evening in Buena Park. I asked how late and he said they would be there late. I asked if 8:00 PM was ok and he confirmed they would be there but changed my delivery to 7:00PM.

I get to the center a few minutes before 8 and walk by a young gentleman taking a pic with his new M3 then proceeded into the showroom. Only a security guard was inside and he escorted me to the back where there was another employee and a group waiting for their car. Poor guy working the back looked exhausted. He asked for my name then just told me the car was parked in a numbered space on the lot. He walked me over to the car and told me to use the app to unlock the car, congratulated me, and went on to put more license plates on cars waiting to be delivered.

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole purchasing and pickup process. It's super efficient but rather soulless. I didn't physically sign a single form. The keys were locked in the glovebox, accessed with my Tesla account password.

Both front windows make a loud click at a certain point on the way down. The right front door requires more force to close but the panel gaps look great. Tiny scratch on the trunk but I don't really care about that. I have the homelink kit waiting so I scheduled a mobile service appointment to install it and fix the door/windows. OC appointments were 2 days out compared to 2 weeks out in LA. They're coming to do that stuff at my workplace this afternoon.
I know you said last post, but I’ll try anyway…. Who confirmed Oct 1+ deliveries are 2022, a Tesla employee at the time of delivery?

Did anyone get their apology or explanation email or text from Tesla? No? Nobody? No one get a "Hey, I know we sent you text's confirming you'd be getting your car in September, and that we assigned you a VIN for a period of time, and our delivery team confirmed you were receiving your car, and then -- it all disappeared and reset. We'd like to apologize for the inconvenience this might've caused you. Here's what happened...."

Did Tesla send ANY communication to ANYONE about what happened and what happens next? Are we guaranteed to be in the next batch? Or are we all back in the giant Bingo hopper (at the mercy of the great algorithm in the sky)?

10/11 - 10/31.

My balls are beyond blue.

My 9/29-9/30 delivery date got pushed to 10/23-11/12. Also delivery to So Cal, originally ordered 8/24. Silver/black interior. Good luck! Hopefully your delivery date doesn't get pushed back more.

If the order gets pushed back again to mid/late December, I'm thinking of just going with an EV6. I like the look of it more, but didn't want to wait until January for a new car.

From my experience, nothing even close to this. I had to seek out every update I received.
 
Update to yesterday's delivery post:

Did a slightly more thorough inspection and for the most part, everything is more or less completely fine. I think I have a far less discerning eye than some others, and I'm not inclined to notice/care about very small imperfections.

That said, I confirmed there is a minor issue with the frunk. Doesn't appear to be an alignment issue (no uneven gaps from what I can tell), but the latch on the lid is not straight. It's a U shaped piece that should have straight sides and there's a slight curve towards the top on the near side. The issue feels incredibly minor but it does affect opening/closing. It doesn't prevent either, but won't shut in one try and requires an extra closing action, like a car door that hasn't been closed all the way.

I'm currently considering my options for fixing. It seems very small for a service request, but is annoying enough to debatably justify. Part of me wants to just find the right tools and straighten it out myself, but hesitant that I'd create a bigger problem. In the end, I really can't complain that this is the worst I've come across but it is a thorny one.
 
for those recently ordered and expect Oct-Nov delivery, are you expecting a 2021 or 2022 model? from what I read last year they switched around mid OCtober
I’ve never got a clear answer on why year matters?
I thought for Tesla it especially DIDNT matter.

but to answer your question. Model year didn’t cross my mind at all, because of ^^. They make updates on their own schedule, and if I waited for every update to order, I’d never order.
I was told November by SA and website.
EDD was then 10/3-11/2.
Now it’s back to Nov, so I can’t be too upset. Just annoyed I got my hopes up.
