Refreshed 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid waiting room

For those of you hoping to get a call about someone 'turning down' their X so you have a chance. If you have it set to Cash Payment, but plan to pay via Financing, that may hinder that process as they are looking for quick turnarounds. We do have a few days left this month but keep that in mind. I called the SA that called @face4radio and they are trying to get me into it (even though I'm not a fan of creme interior). They asked me to switch my delivery center to be the one they are at (we have multiple in Houston). I couldn't do it via web or app. He also couldn't figure it out. So, he said he'd call me back in 30 seconds. It's been 20 minutes now. My guess is it'll go to someone already assigned to that delivery center. Sucks for me. But that opens new questions for me. If you have multiple delivery centers in your city, are you truly only limited to the one you supposedly picked when you first ordered (I honestly don't remember doing that)? If that's the case, it's gonna suck for me here in Houston.
Confirmed it was sold to another Houstonian. My delivery center choice screwed me. But that's ok. Hoping a white interior gets turned down as he told me he'll call me immediately as soon as ANY X is open.

Yah that doesn’t make sense they would offer it to me today when my order is quite different…I feel like its all just a frenzy right now where delivery folks are reaching out to their own internal network of customers to secure the sale vs. putting it back out there for those who actually match the vehicle…
It was a vehicle already sent to Houston, but the person receiving it wasn't in town. So, they were trying to get rid of it. Wouldn't make sense to ship it back to Cali. This is communication problems biting them on the ass.

True, but in most cases they will find a local buyer in minutes. I turned down a refreshed S back during SEPT quarter end. Was told I’d have to drive 6 hours to the SC holding it and take delivery within 2 days.

Decided to wait on the X since it was just Oct.. right?

Pretty sure the S was gone as soon as I declined.

These are numbers that have a VIN and how many out of those were FSD. Def strong on FSD.

I started playing with the data after getting inspired by this (Tableau?) viz. We need a couple of data clean ups in the sheet - the delivery location needs some standardization and the region should be somehow automatically calculated.

I also noticed some orders which are either bad data or have been waiting for a lonnnnng time :) (I am referring to the Jan/Feb 2020 orders especially)

Yup. I fixed a lot of the data and went strictly with city/state/country for location. There were 2-3 data points that had no location, so took those out. Everything else looked fine on my end for what I did. And yes, I was fooling with it on Tableau.

Thanks! I think it would be better to call that column Delivery City because there's a lot of California and SoCal which is helpful but not precise enough.

Has anyone in Canada heard from the SA or SC techs that they're hearing deliveries will happen soon? The service team usually hears if it is imminent as the team needs to become familiar with servicing the car/parts/etc. Last time I was getting my Y serviced in October the techs hadn't heard anything of the X refresh date for Canada so they were quite sure it wasn't happening before the end of year & they were right. Just before the Y release in Canada in 2020, I was getting my 3 serviced & the service techs knew the Y was coming in a few weeks even before the Sales advisors would not confirm as they were starting to prep for servicing the cars, etc.
So, long and short as of last week - no. I talked with an SA in Toronto who said things are still up in the air, nothing concrete but looking hopefully at February, less likely for January. He's seen the pre-production coming through for the service people to look over (which I think was mentioned at least a couple of months ago). He then showed me a Plaid Model S in the store, which just made it all the more difficult to wait for the X. Yes, I think the service department is prepared but nothing heard about deliveries forthcoming.

Hi All,

So I had an opportunity to stop into my delivery centers and speak with a Tesla Staffer.

I’m not going to say where but it’s located in the North East. I’m not saying whether it’s a female or male to protect them from any issues. Here is what I learned.

When I told them I was looking for info on my MX order they said… “like mine?” It seems they are in a similar situation as many of us having ordered the MX over 6 months ago with no idea of when it’s being built…. so they were willing to investigate my order. They went through several screens and kept stressing how much futher along I was them most of their MX orders.

I was told I am in “Build Status”, They said there is
  • In Production
  • Build Status
  • Staged
  • Null (this being a new order it’s hardly been processed/planned)
This person is in regular contact with the MX planning team which decides which config happens and when. I was told there are multiple things happening which is causing chaos right now making it hard to lock in plans.
  • When will Austin come online? What will that ramp up look like? When can Austin take all of Freemont’s MY orders?
  • Once Austin takes all the MY orders it will free up the Freemont MY line to be converted to a 100% MX line.
They told me that although they are making 6 seaters now, the speculation is they will be pivoting probably to the 7 seater and 7 seater Plaid.

They told me because I’m a 2020 order holder I am in the Priority Que which means when they actually begin building the 5 seater I’ll get “one” of the 1st ones shipped to the East Coast. Also already being in “Build Status” it means when they begin planning the MX 5 seater build group my car will be in the first group to be planned for building. All that said they do not believe my MX will arrive before late spring. They expect their MX to arrive a few months later when the 6 seaters begin production again, although that could be accelerated if MY stops being made in Freemont sooner.

Lastly I asked about the info that Tesla is making East Coast MX’s first, then the Mid West MX’s and then West Coast MX’s to make the big end of quarter push. They said that’s not happening currently. All the Northeast service centers have been getting a trickle of MX’s. No large delivery but one or two here and there. If the East Coast / Mid West / West Coast approach were true…. They would have received a large batch in Nov which did not happen.

So, that’s what I have to share. Take it with a grain of salt as I do most posts.

Happy New Year!
