For all of us suckers considering
FSD.
Yes, I am replying to my own comment! My quick feelings about FSD: the video in this article sums up my experience in that I was cajoled by Tesla employees years ago to pay for FSD, which turned out to be vaporware.
It's a little insulting to ask buyers to pay a massive sum of cash for a product that Tesla knows doesn't exist now and may not exist for the life cycle of the car for that particular buyer.
Not to stir up more debate (we covered this hundreds of pages ago), but I am also extremely skeptical of the utility and safety of FSD in the hands of the masses.
Thaaaaat saiddddd, a few weeks ago, I clicked the button to add FSD. I wanted to see if it moved my EDD at all. Or, I am a glutton for punishment. Maybe both?
If I end up buying FSD, I may try it on occasion. The only features I really appreciated before were summon (only for tight parking spaces, using only forward and backward) using autopark (only if I thought I was gonna curb a rim trying to do it myself), and occasional highway driving while opening a bottle of water or something.
The price bump is a shame, cause if I really wanted to buy it, I was planning on just doing it after the fact, and using a credit card to recoup some points and avoid a bump in sales tax. To clarify, if I wanted the 10k pricing, I had to add it before the recent bump. An interesting tidbit: I have an old MXP order and a new MXP order (changed color; was going to wait to see if both became available at same time, and I'd just choose the color); when I went to add FSD to the old order, it gave me the 10k pricing, even though it was past the date of the price bump, but the newer order showed the 12k pricing. If you have an old order and are still considering FSD, it may still be priced at 10k.
