Removing lugnuts - Lost key for security nut

Wondering if anyone has any experience with removing the lug nuts if the key for the security nut is lost. Also what the size of the bit needed to get off the normal ones is. I have a 2009 1.5. Thanks!

I would check with a larger tire store. I'm sure they come across this all the time. They may have a "master key" or keys. As for the splined ones, they look like a Torx socket head, but I don't know the size.

Have you checked with Tesla? When I got my roadster, the tool kit was missing the lug nut tool for the “normal” lug nuts. Luckily I had the key for the locking nuts. I ordered a replacement tool from Tesla, and the Plano service center let me borrow their tool while I waited for the replacement to get shipped. I was able to get a flat tire fixed while I waited for the ordered part to arrive.

The lug bolts are a 10 pt spline drive (not Torx). Some auto parts stores carry "tuner" lug nuts with that size, but you might have to buy a whole set and the tool for $20. Or search on Ebay or Amazon for an R10 spline tool or Steelman #78549.
