What would be involved in replacing existing MOD3 exterior mirrors with rearview cameras mounted to the stubs of the existing mirrors with a screen on the interior for full time left/right rear view? Is this available anywhere as an aftermarket kit?
The outside mirrors are large enough to block some of the view out in an important area of the car. The stubs on which the exterior mirrors are mounted would make good attachment points for cameras if the existing mirrors were removed. The existing reverse camera(s) in the car do not provide a useable picture L/R as do the cars mirrors. It seems that Tesla or the aftermarket could provide a kit with cameras along with a small full time auxiliary screen showing the rear view L/R. Maybe a small additional benefit would be increased range due to a little less wind resistance from the large mirrors.

The nice thing from the Chevy EV and EUV was that you had the choice to use the rearview mirror as a mirror, or use the rear camera as an alternate and unobstructed/cleaner/larger view of what is behind you.

That is only for the center rear view mirror on higher trim cars (rather than the side mirrors originally referred to). It would be a nice feature to have on cargo vans and other vehicles with no or very poor outward visibility directly to the rear.
