Replacement Wing Mirror Glass

Morning everyone,

A bird just hit my wing mirror on the motorway and I have this remaining.

Does anyone know if I need just a replacement glass or backplate? Is it just a clip on? I have a 2023 model Y long range.

Where is best to get this done as cheap as possible?

Glass usually just clips on - looks like you have a connector there for either heating or dimming, so your best bet is to get one from Tesla. Don’t cheap out on your mirrors!

You will probably get a quicker response raising a service request in the app, or maybe not...

Sorry to ask... I've just raised a request. When the ranger arrives, can I reject the cost of the replacement (If it's too expensive?)

You can just ask for the cost of the parts in the app as well as cost of fitting. You can find exact part numbers in the online electronic parts catalog (epc.tesla.com) for your car. Otherwise something like mirror glass they would hopefully just go on your description.

Sounds like you have asked for it to be fitted. You will get a quote through ahead where you will get the option to accept or reject. No need to wait until ranger visits.

At that point you can probably ask for cost of glass only, no fitting.

It’s a bit odd communicating via the app as sometimes it just turns into a chat. But you may also get a phone call to discuss, although I suspect this won’t warrant that.
