Rhode Island deliveries

Took delivery of my Midnight Silver/Black LR AWD this morning. I'm in RI, so this was delivery by trailer. Car was in excellent condition with the only blemish being a small abrasion on the back right corner of the roof glass panel. The truck driver texted me well in advance this morning to be sure I would be home.

Because the Dedham store can't issue RI Temp Plates, I'm going to head to the DMV tomorrow to get temps myself. Should be fun!

Communication from Tesla leading up to the day of delivery was spotty at best. I think everything is trigger based with the Delivery Rep,,as she was super responsive at key events in the process, but then did not respond to multiple emails in-between finalizing the sale and taking delivery. Once delivered, she once again immediately reached out to document that I had accepted delivery.

Can't wait to get street legal so I can do more than just loopmaround my neighborhood!

I’m also in RI and should be taking delivery within the next week. Were you able to get temporary plates from the DMV after you received the car? The rules for temp plates on the RI DMV website were slightly confusing and made it sound like a dealer would have to issue the temp plate.
Otherwise we would have to wait until the registration package is sent from Tesla. How long did your registration package take to get to you after you took delivery?

Are you taking delivery at the Warwick store? The store was not open when I bought mine in June, so I had to self register (no temp plates). As I understand it, the store is supposed to have a DMV specialist that will handle registration and providing temp plates...but not sure that is in place yet.

The Warwick store isn’t set up for registration yet. Waiting for approval from the state I believe. Getting it from Dedham. How long did it take you to get your registration packet after delivery?

It took almost 3 weeks to get my paperwork. You will need to hound your Delivery Coordinator.

Got my car delivered in RI last Thursday. Communication from Tesla was worse than nonexistent leading up to it. I had no idea when I was getting my car until the delivery driver called me outside my house! I actually missed a call 2 hours before because I didn't have service, but still 2 hours is not much notice! My self registration packet came today (6 days after delivery). Warwick (right now at least) is pretty useless. I was hoping it would be an asset to have it so close, but it's exactly the same process as buying online, and they've given me incorrect info on multiple occasions that just made the process more of a PITA. You'd be better off pretending it didn't exist to be honest. It's essentially just a showroom. It's still pretty new so I'll cut them some slack, and hopefully they work out the kinks soon!

I got my car delivered to RI in December 2019. Documentation from Tesla for registration was slow to arrive, so I just drove it for the first week or so without plates. I've always heard that police are very lenient about brand new cars without plates. 17,000 miles later, still loving it!

They wouldn't let me pick up in Warwick in August. Mt. Kisco was listed as the pick up location option, but I was told it could be Dedham too.
